Optimizing Recruitment to Drive Equitable Research opportunity in stroke rehabilitation trials in Canada-The ORDER Study

Women make up only 40% of participants in stroke randomized clinical trials. The under-representation of women limits the generalizability of trial findings and impacts evidence-based clinical care. Dr. Adria Quigley and Dr. Ada Tang are trying to change this. They are leading a study aimed at improving the recruitment and enrollment of women in stroke studies across Canada. They will develop and implement a women-centered recruitment toolkit, which will be tested to determine if it helps recruit more women for a multi-site stroke trial. The study will also involve a survey and interviews to find out the barriers and facilitators to enrolling in stroke studies. If successful, the toolkit will become an exemplar for future stroke studies across the continuum of care.
